Work
I lead platform and AI engineering at Sportsbet. Most of my work sits around developer experience, cloud infrastructure, and making AI tools useful in day-to-day engineering.
Tinkering
all entriesThe latest things I’ve been building, trying, and working out.
- Making BetterFit Easier to Use Between SetsI built out BetterFit's watch workout flow around one frequent action: log the set without hunting through controls. The small simulator then exposed clipped values and awkward wrapping. Inline Crown editing, separate title and rest rows, and native UI tests made the interaction more concrete. The change is merged, with physical-watch checks still ahead.
- Adding Figma exposed drift in my MCP config generatorA sandboxed run of my MCP generator would have restored old auth settings, dropped a PATH override and copied a broken key value. I applied the Figma change separately.
- Giving OpenClaw a tools image took more than a successful buildOpenClaw needed browser and rendering tools in its container. A runner CLI mismatch and a private-image pull failure separated the successful build from the healthy rollout.

- You Can Run a Neo Enterprise on Your OwnMost engineers have a side project they could ship. The usual excuse is no time, no co-founder, no team. None of those matter anymore. Free cloud tiers, open source platforms, and AI tooling have dropped the cost of starting a software business to near zero. One person with attention and effort can run a real neo enterprise without quitting their day job.
- Escapism or a Return to FormThe AI feed is a slot machine and I've stopped pulling the lever as often. Between a Mighty Car Mods binge, the latest Syntax episode on AI and mental health, and a growing itch to import a JDM weekend car, here's why splitting your time into mundane hobbies isn't escapism - it's a return to form.
- Software Engineering at the Tipping PointAdam Bender's Google I/O talk argues every developer ecosystem faces a 10x transformation from AI-assisted development. The thesis is unsettling: AI acts as an amplifier, not a fixer. Teams with strong fundamentals scale beautifully. Teams with weak fundamentals scale their dysfunction at equal speed. Here's what that means for how you should prepare.
